Thank you for making an application to work with Mint.  As part of our recruitment process we will need to collect personal and sensitive information from you to help us understand if working together for potential employees and/or contractors wouldbe appropriate for both of us.  

Mint takes protecting your privacy very seriously.  We understand the importance of being open and transparent with you in the way we collect, hold, store, use and share your personal information.  We have summarised our Privacy Policy for our merchants and customers here. Our Obligations

When dealing with our potential new candidates and contractors the Privacy Act 1988 applies and it defines both “personal information” and “sensitive information”, as follows:

Personal information’ includes information or an opinion about an identified individual or an individual whois reasonably identifiable. Examples include an individual’s name, signature, address, or date of birth.

‘Sensitive information’ is a type of personal information and it includes information or an opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or associations, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership or associations, sexual orientation, criminal record, health information or genetic information and some aspects of biometric information

This summary of our privacy policy discloses how Mint Payments Limited and its subsidiaries (“Mint”, “we”or “us) will collect, use and share personal information about you. The Privacy Policy is designed to both inform you of your rights in respect to the collection and storage of personal information, and to help us ensure that we comply with applicable law in the countries in which we operate.

Information About You That We Collect

As part of the recruitment process the personal (and sensitive) information that we collect about you includes:

  • name and contact details;
  • date of birth and gender;
  • your Tax File Number;
  • information relating to your work history;
  • information about your education and qualifications and the institution(s) you studied/ are studying at;
  • your working eligibility rights;
  • your suitability for the role you are applying for;
  • pre-employment medical assessment results;
  • biometric data (including live video of your face) as part of our verification and onboarding process;
  • work performance and training details;
  • superannuation fund details;
  • criminal history record;
  • credentialing information including licenses and registrations and accreditations;
  • emergency contact details; and
  • details about your referees.

In some cases, we collect personal information from third parties including public sources which includes social media.

Why Do We Collect Your Personal Information?

The primary purpose for which we collect your personal information is to determine your suitability for working with us either as an employee, contractor or work experience candidate.  The information will also assist in onboarding you if you are successful.

We are also required to collect certain information for the purposes of complying with certain laws which includes Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering laws.  Depending on the position that is applied for we may need to collect other or further sensitive information from you.

If you do not want to provide us with certain information we may not be able to continue the employment process.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell personal information to third parties. Except as set out below, your personal information will not be exchanged, transferred, or given to third parties for any reason without your consent.  We may be required to share your personal information with third parties where we believe in good faith that we are required to do so by law.

Protecting Your Information

We implement a variety of security measures to safeguard against loss, access, use, modification or disclosure of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose(s) for which it was collected and to comply with applicable laws. Your consent to such purpose(s) remains valid after termination of our relationship with you.

We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is accurate, up to date, complete, relevant and not misleading.

Storing & Transferring Your Personal Information

Mint’s business is operates in and from Australia and New Zealand. Accordingly, information is, in the first instance, processed in New Zealand and/or Australia.  However, some of the organisations we may disclose your personal information to are located overseas. These recipients include our service providers who may handle, process or store your personal information on our behalf.

We may store your information in the cloud or on other types of electronic storage systems. All electronic storage system premises are located in Australia or New Zealand. Mint ensures any cloud provider used is certified for security of the cloud in compliance with all the laws and regulations. Note that cloud agents are not to disclose information that Mint stores on their services except as legally required.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information that we collect is kept secure in accordance with industry standard physical, electronic and managerial procedures. All of our staff are trained to comply with this Privacy Policy. In respect of personal information collected online or stored electronically (including in the cloud) in particular, you acknowledge that no security system is impenetrable and that the security of such networks and systems can never be guaranteed. We also cannot guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted over the internet. Accordingly, any personal information which is transmitted to us is transmitted at your own risk.

Your Rights to Access Information

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any personal information we collect is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant and not misleading, and any personal information that we use or disclose is up-to-date, complete, accurate and relevant.

Privacy Complaints

If you believe that we have breached this Privacy Policy, you may direct your complaint to us at privacy@mintpayments.com  or at (mailing address)  Attention: Privacy Officer, please include your name, email and/or telephone number. We will review your complaint and liaise with you directly to resolve your complaint within a reasonable time.

Privacy Breaches & Escalations

Mint takes Privacy seriously and any Privacy breaches will be escalated internal to the Mint Executive Team and the Mint Board immediately.

Mint will follow the guidelines of the Privacy Commission in relation to the handling of any privacy breaches.
